The “Seed” of God’s Word
Before we begin this mornings briefing, we will quote a verse that I have used many times (for more and more readers are coming every week to the website; and also being added every week to our ministry list…and so this will benefit them) but we need to quote it again for the new readers and also to strengthen the foundation of this verse in you.
“However, that which is spiritual is not first, but that which is natural, and then the spiritual follows after.” 1st Cor. 15:46. This is a deep scriptural precedent that must be understood. The Lord Himself used natural allegorical themes and ideas to convey spiritual truths to His listeners again and again. And we will follow this 1st Cor. 15:46 truth in today’s teaching.
Four times in the book of Matthew alone, the Lord uses a word for God’s word to slam home to His hearers one of the deepest truths in the New Testament. He calls God’s word “seed.” This word seed in the Greek is Speiro. This is the root word of the word Sperma which is used of the sons of the kingdom Need we say more…really? What is in a man’s seed? His DNA, his nature, his predispositions, his looks, his likes and dislikes, etc., etc., etc. The list is endless. He wants us to see just how important God’s word really is.
Brethren, he has “magnified His word above His name.” Why? Because a man’s offspring is greater than the sum of his name. And Paul said in Acts 17:29 that “we are the offspring of God.” Remember what I wrote in one of the briefings; that hens will lay eggs each day…but none of them will hatch into a chick unless a rooster is added into the equation. The rooster adds the “seed” that will produce life. God’s word does the same exact thing. It produces life. Anything that God’s word touches will live and produce life if it can find an egg to enter into.
So then, what is the egg? It is our faith brethren!! OUR FAITH!!!!! Consider this verse: “By faith Sarah received strength to conceive seed…” Hebrews 11:11. This word in the Greek is καταβολὴν and what is interesting about this word is that it is only translated “conceive” one time. The other 10 times it is used in all of the New Testament, it is translated “foundation.” Hmmmm…interesting, isn’t it. Let’s delve into this a bit and pull some wisdom out of the natural to help shed light on the spiritual.
For two days, I walked around meditating on this verse waiting for the Lord to shed light on it. On the third day, Mary Ann and I were fellowshipping on it intently and light came when she said this to me, “Robert, think about it. A woman’s womb lays a foundation each month to receive a seed. If a seed doesn’t come, then the body cleanses the egg away in the menstrual cycle. When the menstrual cycle is over, the womb once again begins to prepare itself (lay a foundation so-to-speak) to once again prepare an egg and to receive a seed that life may be conceived.”
Are you seeing any parallels here yet? Your faith is the egg, and God’s word is the seed (Greek: Speiro). The “speiro” is always being sown by God (Matthew 13:24) and it is always seeking an egg to enter into that life may be conceived. Your faith (as we just saw in Hebrews 11:11) is the egg. Your faith is your believing. No wonder Jesus said, “When the Son of Man returns, will He really find faith on the earth?”
But having a seed and an egg is still not enough. The timing has to be just right. In other words, there has to be an egg in the womb for the seed to find. Make no mistake about it brethren, God’s word is “seeking” those who have faith. So then, how does the actual spiritual conception take place? OUR SPEAKING!! Paul said, “But since we have the same spirit of faith, ACCORDING TO WHAT IS WRITTEN (Paul is using the word of God here to establish his faith and his speaking), “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak.”
We believe first and then we stand on God’s word against all odds, all circumstances, all lies, all everything…and we speak God’s word and then we believe that what we have said will come to pass. Consider this verse well: “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does NOT DOUBT IN HIS HEART, but believes that those things he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says.” (3 main points in this verse: Speaking, Doubting, Believing). Now notice a deep truth here; the “speaking” part is mentioned three times more than the “believing” part. Did you really catch that? Really? Your speaking God’s word in validating your believing is the conception of the “seed” meeting the “egg.” It is what gives His word an entrance into your “womb” so-to-speak. Interesting note here – we are referred to as the woman in scripture: the bride, a virgin, the wife, etc. These are deep issues but I fear only a few over the years have actually understood it. The proof of it is the lack of it is in our experience.
This truth can impregnate us in any area that we can believe God for. Our healing, our finances, our marriages and relationships, our children, your job. Anything and everything. It took me years to see this. Lake, Wiggleworth, Yeoman, Nuzum, Cho, Mueller, Hagin.Capps, Nee and many others spoke and taught on this; but until it goes from being mere Logos (head-knowledge) to Rhema (heart-revelation) to you, it will not bear fruit. I would ask you to really meditate on that Mark 11:23 verse very carefully and diligently. Give yourself to these deep truths and let God prove His word true in your life.
Let me tell you something that has happened just recently to me to drive this truth home to you. I don’t just write these briefings to you on a whim; I write them under direction and from experience. I have been doing (practicing) this particular briefing in my personal life. I have been diligently praying about these verses and speaking them. I need $10,000.00 for my trip to Africa where I will be ministering for an entire month every day and several times a day. So I have been sowing into others’ lives and ministries and believing and speaking God’s word. One day when I walk onto a job I’m building downtown, a guy (whom I don’t really know) walks up to me and gives me a $100.00 bill. That same day another guy (whom I don’t know) walks up to me and gives me another $100.00 bill, two days later as I’m getting a coffee at the QT, a clerk slides me an envelope across the counter and says “this is for your Africa trip.” Last Tuesday another guy walks up and gives me another $100.00 bill and then Thursday, another guy gives me a $500.00 check out of the clear blue sky for the trip. Are you maybe seeing a pattern here?
If you are living right and taking care of the Lord and have all the divine ingredients right, and you speak what you really believe (not what you think in your head, but what you believe in your heart), then the word says IT WILL come to pass. I don’t really understand how it all work…I just know it works!! It really works guys!!
Brothers and sisters, this is a valid truth. Who cares that many have abused it over the years. Criminals misuse money everyday, does that mean you’re not going to use money anymore? People misuse their vehicles everyday, does that mean you’re not going to drive anymore? People misuse everything. For every truth, there is a left ditch, and a right ditch. And then there’s the middle of the road. It’s always easier to stay in the middle of the road. A man has to go out of his way to get in a ditch.
The most important thing in any truth though is the foundation. As a General Contractor, I can attest to the fact that the foundation has to be perfect before I’ll allow a building to be built upon it. And I personally examine the foundation very carefully. If I think it’s weak in a certain area, I’ll have extra re-bar added. If I think the density is not enough to support columns, I’ll upgrade the mix on the psi (pounds per square inch). If I can just have my guys spend a little extra time on the foundation, the rest of the project will go smooth.
Psalm 11:3 says, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” And also let us opine what King Cyrus said in Ezra 6:3, “Let the house be rebuilt…and let the foundations of it be STRONGLY laid.” Brothers and sisters, let’s rebuild these truths that have been lost due to misuse and error and a general lack of commitment and perseverance. And let’s take back the land that our common enemy has stolen. He is trespassing on our spiritual property and we need to tell him the same thing Naboth told Ahab (a type & shadow of satan) when Ahab wanted to buy his vineyard. “IT’S NOT FOR SALE!!”
These truths have to be grasped with the heart brethren, and not your head. “If any man believes in his heart.” IN HIS HEART. This truth has absolutely exploded in my spirit. Mary Ann and I speak of it almost every chance we get. And more and more light is coming. Here’s something powerful to think upon: the body cleanses away the egg in the menstrual cycle, right? What is God doing to those who abide in the vine? Pruning (John 15:2). That word in the Greek means “to cleanse.” See how beautiful God’s word fits together?
All God has ever wanted to do is find an entrance in your heart for His word. Will you open to Him…really? Give Him a place. Give Him a chance to show Himself mighty in your behalf. Open up the gates to your heart and life and let the king of glory come in!! And just how does he enter in? Through His word brethren. This is His entrance. Spend real and meaningful time in His word. Study His word, eat His word, think upon His word often, fill your life and mind up with His word. His word is the anchor. His word!!!
The worlds were framed…how? By the word of God (Hebrews 11:3). You also will frame your world by your words. If you want an uninhabitable world, just speak negative things; if you want a world of beauty, then let your words begin to frame, form, and complete your world. Even Proverbs says that a man will eat the fruit of the words of his mouth, whether good or bad. There is great power in words – great power. I don’t think we realize how much power.
But as for all truths in God’s word…remember this: “first the blade, then the ear, and then the full corn in the ear. In other words, you will not walk in any truth in its full maturity upon seeing it. It will start off in its infancy to you, then you will grow into its maturity, and then you will partake of the fruit of it. Remember what God’s word says again and again about how to really receive from the Lord:
- First you must hear the word (Psalm 48:8 & Romans 10:17)
- Then your eyes have to be opened by Him to see (Luke 24:31)
- Then your understanding has to be opened so that you may comprehend the scriptures in that particular area (Luke 24:45)
- And lastly, your heart has to be opened to receive the truth in that particular area (Acts 16:14).
Be blessed and we’ll see you on the front lines.
