The Great Waiter

Can it really be true that the Son of man, the Lord Jesus Christ, in eternity future, will gird Himself once again (just as He did at the Last Supper) and serve us again? Oh yes indeed, it is true.

Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them. Luke 12:37

This will take place at the marriage supper of the Lamb.  Do you remember the verse that says, “And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” Rev. 19:9? And do you remember the other verse mentioned in Matthew 22 that says, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king (God) who gave a wedding feast for his son (Jesus).”? And just once more, do you remember the verse in Matthew 20:28 that says, “The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”?

Jesus has been a servant from eternity past.  He was born a servant, He lived His life as a servant, and He died as a servant.  And then He arose as a servant…and He is still serving us in the office of the High Priest making intersession for us.  Wow…He has never stopped serving.

What was the purpose of His entire life?  According to the Matthew 20:28 verse mentioned above, He came to not be served, but to serve. Really think about that for just a moment.  Jesus…came to serve us.  The God of all creation – God Himself in all His majesty…came to serve.

But not only is He a “Waiter” in the aforementioned sense of serving us; but He is also a “Waiter” in the sense that He is waiting for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it.

For 6,000 years God has been working on one thing, dealing with one thing, majoring on one thing, and concentrating on one thing: and that is to redeem man back unto Himself.  All of time revolves around this one theme.  He is trying to repair the breech, and the fellowship, between the souls of men and Himself that our first father Adam by transgression lost.  This is the primary thing on His mind.

God is working ever so carefully behind the scenes to accomplish this divine feat.  A feat that only He could ever dream of pulling off!! And oh how patient He is while the son’s of men kill each other, and do all manner of evil – unspeakable evil.  Their minds are so darkened, their hearts so hardened…and God is in none of their thoughts.  Yet still he waits…and waits…and waits.

The Bible teaches that “God knows those that are His” – and no one shall snatch them out of His hand.  And when God is good and ready according to His own wisdom and prudence, it will all come to an end.

He is waiting.  Now here is the question…are you being a “waiter” towards Him in the same way that He has been towards you?  In other words, are you serving firstly Him and then others?  If not, then you’re not a “waiter.”  And are you waiting patiently for Him?  1 Cor. 1:7 says, “…waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Thess. 3:5 says, “And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.”

The Lord Jesus said that to those who are looking for Him will He appear a second time (Hebrews 9:28).  He will only appear to those who are looking.  Many, yea most, are not looking.  For if they are looking, their lives would produce the fruit of their “looking.” Because when you are intently looking at something or someone, then you are not distracted by other things.  You only care about “looking unto Jesus.”

Dear reader, what are you looking at today?  Has something else caught your gaze, your affection, and your love?  Make no mistake about it, the Lord said that many would be ashamed at His coming.  Will this be you?  Is the love of the world or its things that important to you?  Is your family, your children, your career, your friends, or your money that important to you?

Oh friend, if you could only see Him as He is revealed in His Word to you, then you would sell all that you had and you would buy the field that has the treasure in it (Matthew 13:44) and you would live for Him…just as He lived for you.  You see, He not only died for you, but He lived for you as well.  He really lived!! No man ever lived as He did.  He lived every moment knowing He would be laying down His life at the end of it all…for you.

Can you really believe?  Can the spiritual capacity of your heart be enlarged to receive Him unto yourself?  Until a man first learns to hear God from His Word and obey Him and His Word, I’m afraid that he will never be able to see or understand these truths.  Men love to live unto themselves.  Their lives are very important to them.  They really can’t make the time for the Lord.

I want so much for everyone to see and believe what I have seen and believed from His Word.  It’s very serious business indeed.  Your very soul depends upon it.  Can you see satan behind it all deceiving the hearts of men, and blinding their minds from believing the truth?  The devil is relentless dear friend…he never sleeps nor slumbers either.  He is always working to draw you away unto yourself and away from the Word.

Dear reader, awake out of your spiritual slumber and SEE what is happening directly in front of you.  I say it all the time, and I will continue to say it until people get it…unless you get into the Word of God for yourself (mainly the New Testament) and take it all at face value and believe the Word and act upon it and order your life according to all that it says…then you will never enter even into the very beginning of what God has for you.

You will live in darkness and religion; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof.  You will actually think you have the truth and are walking in it.  But there is no truth outside of God’s Word, nor outside of obedience to His Word.

If His Word is not in you, then how can you be abiding in the vine?  It’s all a matter of priorities and what is important to you.  Because love is based upon a commitment of your will.  Love is a decision…a choice.  What will you really do with His Word?  Will you read it, study it, and believe it?  If not, then on the authority of God’s Word, I declare unto you that you will NOT be at the marriage supper, and you will not be served by the Lord, nor rewarded by the Lord, nor will you be commended by the Lord.  Why?  Because you didn’t want to “wait upon the Lord” (you didn’t want to develop a relationship with Him), and you weren’t “waiting” and watching for Him.

You see, a “waiter” is a servant.  And what does a servant do?  Whatever he is commanded to do.
