Man of War – Men of War

The Lord is a Man of war.” Exodus 15:3

For the weapons of OUR warfare are not carnal…” 2nd Cor. 10:4

We can see from the above two verses that the Lord is at war, and that we also are in a war.  Make no mistake about it…we are in a war. A war for our very souls, the souls of our loved ones, and the souls of all men.

It is said that on any given day there are 105 wars being fought on this planet.  But I submit to you that on any given day there are billions of wars being fought on this planet.  Kenneth Hagin said that if God were to open our eyes for 2 seconds to the world of the spirit that 2 things would happen: we would really see the war we are in and that we would never live our lives the same again.

God said that He will “make war with Amalek (the flesh) from generation to generation.” See my article entitled “Then came Amalek”.  Satan is alive and well and wants to pollute our minds with filth, the world, and anything else that we will allow him to put in there.  The choice is ours as to what we allow to come against our vessels (soul & body).

But most of the wars that we face individually are of our own making because of the choices we make each day.  James 4:1 says that there is a war in our members (flesh). Why? Because of fleshly lusts.  1st Peter 2:11 says that there is a war against our soul (mind, will, and emotions). Why? Because of fleshly lusts.

There is only one way to win the battle against yourself and our common enemy, satan. And that is to submit to God and resist the devil and he will flee.  But to submit to God means that you say “No” to the world, its lusts, traps, snares, nets, pits, filthy entertainments that only promote self and the flesh and the worship of the creature rather than the Creator who is blessed forever.

He doesn’t ask us to do anything that He hasn’t first done Himself.  You have to see the reward; but more than that you have to have a heart that just wants to love Him and to please Him and obey Him simply because you love Him.

I feel that so many of us are grieving Him and hurting His feelings.  Yes, God has a soul too (see Isaiah 42:1 & Hebrews 10:38).  In my mind and heart, there can be nothing worse than hurting God’s feelings and disappointing Him.  The very thought of this should keep us from sinning against Him and Him alone.

God has given us a victory in His Son if we will but just believe.  Satan has been defeated my brethren.  All power and authority has been taken back from him.  He only has what we allow him to have.  If you invite the devil over for dinner, you better plan on him bringing his pajamas.  The only authority he has now is the authority that you personally relinquish to him.

Joshua 5:13 When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, Are you for us, or for our adversaries? This verse has become very dear to me lately.  Joshua sees this angel (and knew that it was an angel – having seen many of them during his time with Moses) with his sword drawn, and walks right up to his face and says, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?” I love this spirit of war that was in his heart towards God’s enemies.  He knew this Angel couldn’t harm him in the natural.  He walked up to him and took care of business.  Had the angel said he was an enemy Joshua would have fallen on his face and prayed.  This is our only victory brethren…is in much prayer and in much obedience to His word.  Because the only thing that overcomes the world is our faith; and faith is born from prayer and His word.

See you on the front lines.
