A Divine Servant Always

I heard another brother say something the other day that was very poignant: before Jesus was even born, He was called in Isaiah 42:1 “my servant.” After He was born, He was called in Matthew 12:18 “my servant.” During His ministry he served others, mostly sinners. He said in Luke 22:7 “I am among you as one who serves.” After His resurrection we find Him serving the disciples in John 21:13. After HIs ascension, Paul writes in Philippians 2:7 “But made Himself of no reputation, but took upon Himself the form of a servant.” Throughout eternity He will be serving us. It is written in Luke 12:37 that at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, He will gird Himself and serve us.

A.W. Tozer once said that God cannot do anything less that what He is. He is love ~ therefore He has to love. He is the creator ~ therefore he has to create. He is a Father ~ therefore He needs a family, etc., etc. Jesus was, and is right now a servant in every way that a man can be a servant. It’s who He is inherently. He can’t help it. HIs divine nature is to be a servant and to serve. Do you need Him to serve you in some way today? Then tell Him, “Lord, I need you to serve me in this area of my life.” I have been praying this way lately, and I have not only been freshly humbled, but have seen another side to this multifaceted diamond called Christ that I never seen nor understood before. To REALLY appreciate a gem, you have to buy a gem-loop and look very closely and intently. Are you looking at Him in this way? He wants to serve you today. He ever-liveth to serve (Romans 8:34 “Christ…makes intercession for us” & again and again in Hebrews He is called our High Priest). What does a High Priest do according to the book of Exodus and Leviticus? HE SERVES THE PEOPLE!!! This truth has been very rich, and applicable to me as of late. Hope this helps in some small way. Your Brother ~ Robert
